About Polycarbonate sheet

Polycarbonate Sheet is made of polycarbonate plastic by extrusion process. Its thickness ranges from 1mm to 200mm. The natural color is transparent, but it can be produced with custom colors, such as blue, green, white, red, grey, etc. The main features include excellent impact resistance, good optical properties, and extraordinary durability.

Polycarbonate sheet is virtually unbreakable. It is 20-30 times stronger than plexiglass sheets and 25 times stronger than tempered glass. The normal polycarbonate sheet offers flame retardance with V2/UL94, but it can be V0/UL94 with more flame retardants.

The disadvantage of polycarbonate sheets is that the surface is scratched easily, but with the surface coating technology, it is dramatically improved. Otherwise, there are many different grades of polycarbonate sheets for different applications, for example, ESD/anti-static, scratch-resistant, anti-fogging, UV-blocking, IR-blocking, Anti-glare, glass-filled, etc.

You can’t usually crack polycarbonate sheets because they are virtually unbreakable. However, polycarbonate sheets can be aged by ultraviolet light. If they are used outdoors for more than 15 years, they will be cracked easily. On the other hand, if there are some notches, they will be cracked with high impact resistance.

Polycarbonate sheets can be cut by using different tools, for example:

  • Polycarbonate sheet with a thickness of less than 1mm, you can use a knife to cut it, or you can cut it with a saw;
  • If you want to cut it to shape, you can use a CNC Router and CNC machining center to cut it;

Normally, polycarbonate sheets offer limited UV-protected function. But you can get polycarbonate sheets with a strong UV-protected function by adding the UV-blocking additive or the UV-blocking coating layer when manufacturing.
